Liverpool 1 – 1 Norwich City

oh danny boy

How happy was John Ruddy that Luis Suarez wasn’t plying his trade for the Reds anymore? Ruddy was easily Man of the Match and by some distance. With no disrespect to the Canaries, Liverpool had to win this game.

At home, two at the top, against a newly promoted side, a wonder trio of Benteke/Sturridge/Coutinho leading the front line, and still only one goal to show for our efforts (fittingly from Danny Ings off the bench).

It’s embarrassing. Liverpool have the talent and it’s not being pushed to its potential. I read a beautiful article on Anfield Index recently on why Jürgen Klopp would be the perfect Liverpool manager (and why it’ll likely never happen). Klopp and the Spion Kop; a match made in heaven. The supporters would adore his passion the way he wears it right out in the open on his sleeve and the players would run through walls for him the way he has the ability to inspire.

My own personally take on why Rodgers is safe is because FSG and Co. have already backed him even after the way we finished last season. We are also making big bucks on the youngsters we are selling on, like Raheem Sterling. With the new stand being built the club will make money hand over fist but will fans who want to sing and cheer on their club be able to afford it? Or will we have more of these cell phone wielding tourists and “upper crusters” who don’t know the words to, “Anfield Road?” If I am worried about losing anyone, it’s not Rodgers, it’s Coutinho.

Right back at you Danny.

I am loving Ings and Alberto Moreno, they get it. They are putting in their shifts, taking sh*t from no one, and winning over supporters. There were plenty of positives to take away from the match compared to the way we have been playing, but they were all over shadowed by dropping points in a must win match.

One of my biggest criticisms of Mignolet in his time at Liverpool is he does not command his box, especially the six yard box. It is hard lay sole blame at Migs feet, but one mistake (a weak punch clearance) on his part and our inability to finish off chances resulted in a draw. With two wins, three draws and two losses in all competitions we are the epitome of mediocrity right now. Will we survive, and what will be left of us?
