A scrappy affair that saw the Reds jump to 6th in the table, six points off the lead, taking advantage of several results that broke our way.
The first 20 minutes were a thing of beauty to watch the relentless hunger to pressure the Swansea back line and win back possession high up the pitch. Unfortunately, we were unable to take advantage OR register a shot on target as the Swans found a foothold.
Firmino failed to make a positive impression with a labored performance in the absence of Coutinho in the line up. Emre Can and Ibe made the most of their opportunities. Can filling in Lucas’ role and Ibe harassing the right flank at every opportunity. Lovren has even started to look comfortable and competent at the back.
A bit of luck and, in my opinion, a correct call to award a penalty saw Milner keep his cool and give us the sole goal needed to bag all three points. It wasn’t a pretty display, but with Hendo and Sturridge regaining fitness, there is plenty to look forward to.
I read somewhere the Red Cafu is close to a return. Clyne and Moreno will need a rest at some point.
