Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham (EFL Cup)

Studge goes five-hole.

Daniel Sturridge strikes back with two goals after being dropped to the bench for the league game against West Brom. He could have had many more but Michel Vorm is a freak of nature in goal when he plays Liverpool.

Many thought Danny Ings was a sure thing to start given the way the team was shaping up and his blistering form with the U23’s. But it was Sturridge and Divock Origi up top and neither disappointed. Sturridge doesn’t seem to fit in with our 4-3-3 formation, but is an absolute terror when paired in a 4-4-2. So many good strikers is a wonderful problem to have, until it comes to keeping all of them happy.

On to the quarter finals!

Liverpool 2-1 West Brom

Just how sexy was the build up to Sadio Mane’s goal? The dummy by Phillipe Coutinho leaving two Albion players completely dumbfounded and out of position, the lay off by Emre Can, Roberto Firmino’s perfectly agonizing (for the stretching defender) lofted cross, and the sublime first touch finish by Mane. Breath taking play.

Jurgen Klopp made mention to how he feels the squad are not even close to 100% capacity. I believe him. We do struggle to put complete games together at times, but we are electric when we do turn it on. We have plenty of depth this season on our European exile and one has to believe that if our key players stay healthy, we’ll continue to push the envelope and finish in the top four.

Should we do better than top four…
